Dog Safety Visit

Today we were visited by Kim and Chris from the Christchurch City Council Dog Safety Team.  Kim and her dog Joker taught us about how to care for a dog and we learnt that "If a dog is on its own, leave it alone".  Chris and his dog Baxter taught us how to use our bags as a shield in case a dog attacks.  He also taught us how to pat a dog safely.  We have to ask the owner if we can pat the dog, approach with our hands like a rock and then pat them on the chest.  Chris said "Chest is best".  Check out the photo's below!

Sharnie The Dog

Today Alick's Mum bought in their new family dog.  She was very excited to sniff all the children and show us her tricks.  We found out that she likes to sleep on Alick's Mums bed and that she has a couple of toys that she likes to play with.  Sharnie has also broken a plate by jumping up on the bench when no one was looking!!!  It was so much fun meeting her today and getting to pat her.  She was super friendly.

Jade's Nana's Rabbits

Today Jade's Nana bought in her rabbits to show us.  She breeds them and takes them to shows.  We got to pat some of the rabbits and feed them apples.  Charlie was allowed out of his cage so we could pat him.  One rabbit had some little 3 week old babies.  What a great language experience for us to write about next week!
